The Early Years
Gordon Michael Scott was born in Salinas, Calif., in 1965. Soon thereafter, his family moved east and lived up and down the coast. Graduated from Stonington High School in Connecticut, in 1983. Studied art with Tom Nakashima and John Winslow at Catholic University in Washington, DC. and received a B.A. in 1988.
Polo/Ralph Lauren
Started working for Ralph Lauren in 1987 at the Georgetown Park store selling on the floor and assisting with window/interior displays while still in school. Moved to New York City in 1988 when offered a position with Polo in their Creative Services Department. Employed full time and freelance for over 10 years, spanning three decades, most recently in 2009. Within this department, responsibilities included multiple creative and production duties, including the design, construction and decoration of sets and the styling of product for all Ralph Lauren lines for all corporate, wholesale and retail environments.
Gman Productions
In 1995, created Gman Productions, a company providing the full range of visual services. Through 2000, clients included Abercrombie & Fitch, Alfred Dunhill, Banana Republic, Bausch & Lomb, Chaiken & Capone, Chaps/Ralph Lauren, Giorgio Armani and Nautica.
Ye Olde Schoole Shoppe
In 2003, opened Ye Olde Schoole Shoppe, a sportswear boutique and skate shop in hometown of Mystic, CT. Sole owner and operator from store renovations to clothing designs. In 2007, in nearby New London, collaborated with deejay Frank Marchany and artist Denny Rivera on Muse, an art gallery, shoe boutique and skate shop.
Fine Art
Scott has been making art professionally since he was 18. Has shown in New York, Connecticut, D.C. and San Francisco. Has work in collections worldwide. Recently celebrated 30 years of making art with the retrospective "Assets & Liabilities: 1982-2012" at the Mystic Workshop.
